I once played the part of God in a piece of drama. I was on a microphone off stage, but when I came back out onto the stage, 300 young people were laughing. It seemed that they were laughing at me and not laughing with me. The Bible tells us that when we are persecuted for what we believe, God will bless us... so go ahead keep on mocking!
lyrics
[Chorus] Hear you laughing, laughing at me,
Laughing with a heart of misery.
See you mocking, mocking what I do,
You mocking bless me don’t you know it’s true!
[repeat]
What d’you think your laughing at now?
Gonna let us in on the joke?
Are you laughing at me? Are you laughing at him?
Are you laughing at some other bloke?
Everywhere I go, everything I do,
I hear the sound of laughter.
Faces smiling and fingers pointing people heading for disaster.
Nothing wrong with having a laugh.
Nothing wrong with a bit of fun.
If no one in the world ever had a laugh,
No work would ever get done.
If you have a laugh it aint that bad.
All work and no play it make Jack bad.
If you have a laugh it aint that bad.
All work and no play it make Jack bad.
[Chorus]
Just wait a while before you smile and ask the question ”why?”
Do you laugh at my belly?
Do you laugh cuz I’m smelly?
Can you look me in the eye?
When I ask you do you know what’s true?
Do you know what is a lie?
When I ask you are you laughing at me?
Are you laughing at the man in the sky?
[Chorus]
Are ya laughing by yourself?
Or ya laughing with your friends?
If ya laughing for a reason keep on laughing to the end.
If ya laughing by yourself?
Or ya laughing with your friends?
If ya laughing for a reason keep on laughing to the end.
If ya laughing cuz someone else does,
And you don’t want to look out of place.
Just think again, what your laughing about,
About the look upon my face.
If you laugh at me because I’m free,
All I feel for you is sorry.
They laughed at the Boss as they hung him on the cross,
All his thoughts for your tomorrow.
[Chorus]
Now this is nearly the end of this song,
Or the end of you if you wait too long.
Don’t laugh at me anymore,
You can laugh with me, you know the score.
Don’t have to be weak, like the rest of the sheep,
if you know what’s true.
You can be blessed, just forget the rest,
And let them laugh at you.
Blessed are those who are persecuted in my name. x4
Woe to you who laugh now,
For you will morn and weep. x2
Blessed are those who are persecuted in my name. x2
